有争议。传统上对其的解释为凉鞋带，但这种解释现在愈加被否定。Fischer 将其描述为最初代表一个精致的护身符弓，并指出其下部代表绳索的两端紧挨着；早王朝时期的石刻形式通常显示这两端大大分开，而不是像后来的生命之符那样在一起。Westendorf 推测，它最初代表一种类似于伊西斯结的带子。
